ECNUer designs 70th anniversary website from scratch
ECNU celebrated its 70th anniversary on October 16 with ECNU alumni from all over the world. We are delighted to interview Chen Ruiduo, an undergraduate from the Department of Broadcasting and Television, who designed the anniversary website.
ECNUers help out flower farmers in Xundian
Xundian Hui and Yi Autonomous County of Yunnan Province was once a key poverty-stricken county for priority aid. Selling flower tea is one of the local farmers'main sources of income. However, flower farmers in Xundian now face a major slump in the demands of black rose tea—a local specialty—as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
COMM alumnus wins national youth honor
Early this month, the results for the 24th "National May 4th Medal and 2020 National Upward and Virtuous Youth Award" were announced. They recognize the extraordinary contributions made to the country by China's youth, particularly marking for the sacrifices made in combating the outbreak of the novel coronavirus this year.
Introduction of COMM
Journalism and communication education in East China Normal University has a long history. In 1920, the Journalism Department of St. John’s College was founded, thus initiating the higher education of Asian journalism. In 1925, part of teachers and students left St. John’s college and founded Kwang Hua University. Inheriting the philosophy of practice from St. John’s Journalism Department, the Department of Journalism in Kwang Hua University was infused with intense patriotism. Meanwhile, Great China University set up journalism education and founded the earliest Advertising Department in 1928.
